Salisbury Model Centre

The helpfulness and patience of the owner, Clive  and his willingness to go the extra mile for his customers is very evident, as is his passion for modelling.    The range of goods he stocks is excellent, and he is always willing to order in anything that is in the catalogues.    There are always a number of built examples of models on display to inspire and enthuse customers, and sometimes you come away with something you didnot know you wanted, when you went in, having seen one built on display.   He always stocks all the current range of Airfix kits, and a very wide range of trains and Hornby stuff.   The store is a right alladins cave for the model making enthusiast.

He is a very modest and quiet person, and is very unlikely to run a campaign to get his customers to vote to get himself promoted.   Having served for over 20 years in the army he took over ownership of this shop a couple of years back, and has over this time blossomed and grown well into the role of proprietor that is behind the door now.

The shop does not have an online presence it relies on the old style of custom and goodwill and word of mouth to promote itself.  His customers are the people that walk in through the door, or take the time to pick up the phone and speak to him before venturing into Salisbury.

Having served in the army, himself and seen the benefits of modelling Clive is passionate about helping with local branch of Modelling for Heros that Malcolm Childs founded, and Clive is very aware of the benefits of modelling for helping those who have suffered whilst serving in the armed forces, and public health: fire / ambulance etc services

He regularly invites customers to showcase their finished models in the shop for a few weeks,  and I like many customers enjoy looking at the work others achieve.    However I never take photos of these.   Clive also supports a number of key events / anniversaries in the shop window with themed displays, and often manages to include items loaned from a military museum nearby, that are stored in their archives and would othrwise not get seen.

Clive will have a selection of photos of his shop window displays, to share as he regularly shows customers his photo collection of past displays,  but as those photos are his, they are not mine to share.
