VESPA
Anyone know if its posdible to find a gas tank for the rocket. Was it used in any other models??Hello Step pal and welcome on here. I think you mean the water barrel on the tender. I think that this will be hard to find as a part but you may be able to have a look at seperate accessory packs for barrels that may suit. These are made by smaller company's usually as items for railway wagon loads. I assume that you thought it a gas tank due to fork trucks etc having a cylinder in a similar place. If I am wrong and you mean another part please say. You could try Peters Spares for the real item.
ModelerXYZ
Dapol do a kit of stephenson's rocket. I have one of those kits, but like a lot of my kits, it never actually got out of the bag and onto the layout. The barrel may be useful. I don't know if Hornby do anyting similar.XYZ
GeoFF03
Guys. the OP could be refering to the live steam model Hornby did, rather than the 00 Tri-ang/Hornby version.

poliss
Rocket was the only live steam model, of the type, that Hornby made. Spare gas tanks do come up on eBay now and then. Whether they are safe to use is another matter.
roythegrass
I have the Stephenson’s Rocket live steam purchased last Christmas. The original gas tank was prone to splitting and leaking from the valve – as mine did. I purchased a new replacement but can’t remember from whom but a google search will find the guy who specialises in parts for this model. I've yet to install the tank. 96RAF
Ask Gowest on the live steam forum nicely and he could probably make you one for the price of a bottle of single malt.

RDS
@ROB guitarWelcome to the Forum and that sounds a really useful answer.(It's a pity we have not heard from step-pal, since the original question was posted 15 months ago)
warren_gilbert
Hornby Rocket 3.5" gauge live steamthe gas cylinder which is under the water tank/media/tinymce_upload/a18976f18862922a063a411d6acc7071.png Does anyone know how to get this to work? I have recently bought one from Tony Green Steam Models, and it leaks horrendously. I can see that the design idea is quite clever, filling from the top so that you don't have to keep making and breaking that seal. But I cannot get a reply from TGSM and I think they haven't machined it correctly - the thread is too shallow in the tank to bottom out onto the seal at all.Shame. My father has given his Rocket to my son as a birthday present. Lucky Boy. If only I could get it going again.
