Wayne2467
Hi just received a Hornsby LMS 0-6-0T tank engine with dcc fitted to it. On test run it was stuttering and stalling its way round the track. I did all the usual things - clean track- check wheels and still no joy.after a while I noticed that when it stalled if I lightly touched the top of the drivers cab then it would start up again. This continued to be the case on every stall I would apply light pressure to the top of cab an loco runs fine.so is this some sort of loose connection? ModelerXYZ
Yeah, loose connection between the wheels and track. It means that like a lot of the Hornby range, (no disrespect to them) the loco is too light and needs some more weight. Add plastercene, it works well for putting a bit of extra weight on the wheels.I have had similar problems occasionally. XYZ
2e0dtoeric
Check that the pick-up wipers (on the backs of the wheels) are ALL making contact with their individual wheel. If one is a bit slack, it can be GENTLY bent to apply a bit more pressure to the wheel. The more contacts a loco has, the less likely it is to stutter.
