How about a Dog Boat?

Recommended Posts

One of my favourite kits ever was the Vosper Motor Torpedo Boat; I have built that kit at least a dozen times over the years. However, the Royal Navy had a great many other small fighting craft and they all played such a vital role in the defence of the country and also in taking the fight to the enemy. One of the greatest of these was the Fairmile D class boat, known as the Dog boat, which was mainly used as a Motor Torpedo or Motor Gun Boat. They played a massive role in the Mediterranean and Adriatic, as well as in the Channel and North Sea, and I think that these boats deserve to be immortalised by the classic British model producer. I know that Dog boats in 1/72 are available in resin from another company, but they are almost £200 each and are far outside the reach of most modellers. So come on Airfix, how about giving us Royal Navy small ship modellers a real treat and bring out a 1/72 Dog to go with the Vosper?
