Drewe Manton
First release of the new tool Harrier, built for the Airfix SMW stand at Telford a few years ago.http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s463/Dmanton300/airfix%20harrier%20gr1%20gloss/119_zpsrgh4qdl3.jpghttp://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s463/Dmanton300/airfix%20harrier%20gr1%20gloss/120_zpsff8cywoq.jpghttp://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s463/Dmanton300/airfix%20harrier%20gr1%20gloss/121_zps3bnfmhnq.jpghttp://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s463/Dmanton300/airfix%20harrier%20gr1%20gloss/122_zps88uhv1mg.jpg

peebeep
GR1s are my personal favourite, Airfix look to have done it justice with their latest offering. Was there any problem getting it to stand on four points without any hassle?
david_fleming
Little known fact - 3 units had Harriers with high gloss and 3 coloured roundels - No1, the HOCU and No 4.
Jonathan Mock
The box art is reminiscent of the old FROG (Hasegawa) kit, with a rocket armed aircraft hovering in a wooded clearing. http://i719.photobucket.com/albums/ww195/jonathanmock/162486-12155_zpsp6ftjo3s.jpg

Jonathan Mock
To be honest, it's a natural way to show off the Harrier, and all three original Airfix kits (P.1127, 1/72 and 1/24 GR1s) had the aircraft in a hover. And a lot of literature of the period always seem to be showing of a GR1 in a wooded clearing.
david_fleming
The original Matchbox one was similar if I recall
Dad Paul B
The one thing I (and a colleague) recall about the matchbox GR1 was the fully swivelling nozzles. An interesting feature. I have the GR1/GR9 set to do (my son wants to do the GR1). There are some interesting camo schemes for the later Harriers (Arctic Green/White) but the classic grey/green over lt grey takes some beating. Jonathan Mock
The original Matchbox one was similar if I recallMore of a head on view, and when Matchbox packaging had a make over, a similar painting then depicted a USMC one.https://www.scalemates.com/kits/629726-matchbox-pk-16-harrier-mk-1 There was also another Roy Huxley from a different angle of an AV-8A that was used in an 80s catalogue and may have been used in a gift set or boxed set.
