Dave1953
I have a 2013 Hornby 'Great Gathering' A4 and, due to lack of space, I'm putting together an 'end to end' shelf layout about 8' long by 1' wide. I would like to use Hornby track as it it going to be more of a powered display diorama, rather than a realistic layout. After reading various accounts, I am comcerned that the A4 may have trouble negotiating the Hornby points I plan to use (R8072 and R8073). Has anyone had any experience of this combination please? 96RAF
There has been much discussion re a4s and standard points. Mine derails going backwards only. It was suggested the cab doors and/or fall plate were the culprit(s).if you have room use the express points.also check that the tender is not lifting the front bogie as this is the most common cause of a derail.i tried a spring on the bogie pivot with little success. Others have tried weighting the bogie.
Hilux59721707820819
I would second that and definitely recommend Express points as oppose to standard points. Much better radius curve and easier on long wheelbase locos.
