Beekeeper Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 I have fitted a Hornby point motor R 8014 to a Train tech PC2 controller on my DCC layout. I cannot get the point motoor to "throw" either way. I took the point motor back to the shop and they proved it works on an analogue system but I cannot get it to work on my system. The PC 2 Controller is controlling another point motor (Peco) and is working correctly. Any ideas on what I should do?"
Chrissaf Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 First thing to check is your wiring, particularly as you have stated that you are using both Hornby & Peco motors. Both brands use the same colours, but differently..Hornby use Green & Red for turn left & turn right with the Black as the common.Peco use Black & Red for the turn left & turn right with the Green as the common..If you mis-wire the Green & Black wires, the point motor will not function correctly. If this is NOT your issue then someone who uses TT PC2 controllers will need to comment.
choralc Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 I'm not familiar with your gadgets but I often hear the advice that Hornby's wiring is different to Peco's point motor in that Hornby black is common.
GeoFF03 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 The PC2 instruction sheet does refer to different point manufacurers having different wire assignments. You did not mention if there were more than two points connected to the unit, have you tried all the outlets?
Beekeeper Posted December 13, 2015 Author Posted December 13, 2015 Thank you very much Chrissaf, that was the problem. As soon as I swapped the green and black I was up and running
Chrissaf Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Always best to look for the simple answers first. Just as well you mentioned you have both brands in your query - that was the clue..Glad to have been of service..PS - Thank you for coming back and providing some feedback, not all 1st time posters do.
