Makum
I recently acquired a dated but unused boxed railway. Within was a R965 Controller with an input of 15V DC. The transformer that came with it C912 has an output of 13V DC. I also have a transformer same model number with a 16V DC output. As I need an additional controller is the 16V output transformer safe to use?
2e0dtoeric
You say 'dated'. The first thing to do is to have the transformer checked over by a qualified electrician! Depending on how old it really is, the mains cable could need replacing, and the insulation inside the box might be suspect. You don't really want 240v squirting into your hands, so get it checked over FIRST!Assuming it has been ok'd, then the 1 volt difference is no difference. The output AMPS from the transformer are more important, use whichever one gives the bigger amps out, as the older motors are power hungry.(Edit for an added comment)
Makum
Thanks will have it checked out. I bought the set on eBay and was surprised to find the box the set was in was still sealed.
