walkingthedog Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I see Hornby are going to produce battery powered locos and wooden trains (might both be the same thing) to attract small children 5-8 years as opposed to big ones like us.
The son of Triangman Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Yay! About time. clockwork would be good to see again as well.
LCDR Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Where did you hear this WTD? The market is flooded with wooden trains. There are so many 'Brio' lookalikes available in toy shops, supermarkets and even in the NRM I wouldn't think there was room for yet another player. Ah well, what do I know!?
walkingthedog Posted January 8, 2016 Author Posted January 8, 2016 In the Times business section today. I'm not sure if the wooden trains are battery operated or if there are wooden trains and battery operated trains.
Cronan Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I read about this on another forum, I wonder if they doing aomething similar to a famous German firm M*****n they have a battery range for 3-6 year olds then another range for 8-adult year olds ( which is like railroad sort of budget range) then they have a normal/proffessional range which is quite expensive.Anyway I think its a great idea and it educates young children which is good, hopefully they be the same price or cheaper as the M*****n ones ( their 3-6 year old range that is).
Buz Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Yay! About time. clockwork would be good to see again as well.Yes please a nice heavy retro one with fwd, rev and speed control. Capable of pulling two padded up triang track cleaning box cars and cabooseregards John
JeremiahBunyan Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Hey, Just came across this topic. I myself aren't too sure whether the battery ones are different from the wooden ones, however I'd like to share my own personal views. I think that it's a really good idea if it is wooden toys and battery operated ones. If it's wooden toys it should be compatible with Brio. IMO I won't be interested in wooden toys, but if it is battery operated I want it to be OO gauge compatible. It offers and even better starting point for kids and better transition to electric trains.
