david_denham Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Come across this the other day thought it looked goodthought would ask your valued opinions on here. any or bad pointswith thanksDave
walkingthedog Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Not a bad little loco. About £68 new. Some still about. I have one, not the NCB version, runs very well.
The son of Triangman Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Pro's Lovely runners, look great. Cons. The moulding is old so won't please those wanting fine detail and rivets placed in exactly the same place as the full sized loco. Motor is limited life non-serviceable motor and is the same tiny little motor as fitted to the old class 58.
Twintop Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I have the 68080 numbered BR black version. Runs very well, low geared so slow speed control is good and it is fine over pointwork. I cant comment on the fine detail as that aspect rarely bothers me as I have no idea what the real one should look like anyway, and cant see fine detail from 2 or 3 feet away.
Buz Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Hi david I have the Whemys (spelling) and LNER versions of this loco both run very well. The Wemys one looks real nice pulling thirteen of the Ltd edition wagons and a brake van I just need to find the right one for the trainSo they have a reasonable haulage capacity as well as looking nice.regards John
david_denham Posted January 9, 2016 Author Posted January 9, 2016 Very interesting replies thank you chapsShame about the motor but I think maybe an investment if I can find it at the right price with some tilmanstone trucks the back
Twintop Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I had mine on station pilot duty yesterday and it was easily handling 6 Hornby Railroad MK1s.
