Jonathan Mock Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Found these pics from 1996 (20 years ago - eek!), when I built a Sea Hawk for Airfix to present to the Royal Navy Historic Flight, down at RNAS Yeovilton, Somerset. They'd just finished refurbishing the Sea Hawk and had finished it in new colours which were going into a reissue of the Airfix Sea Hawk kit - Dick Ward of Modeldecal had worked on the research for both. The model was prestented by Humbrol's senior sales man Andrew Farmer to the RNHF. After the press call we all went back to the officers mess for dinner and drinks - and that's as much as I remember... http://i719.photobucket.com/albums/ww195/jonathanmock/Sea%20Hawk%20copy_zpsshvi0tyd.jpg http://i719.photobucket.com/albums/ww195/jonathanmock/Sea%20Hawk_zps5f08lqvz.jpg
Jonathan Mock Posted January 14, 2016 Author Posted January 14, 2016 I'm told the model still sits the RNHF offices. I remember replacing the jet pipes with aluminium tube and making FOD blanks from plastic card.On the day the Sea Hawk was going to fly, but problems with the starter cartridges grounded her.
peebeep Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 It's an old kit but scrubs up quite well with some detailing and TLC.
