Can anyone offer suggestions (excuse the typos )

John, Which version of Windows are you running and which version of RailMaster?

If you loaded the CD supplied in the set I suggest you go to the RailMaster section in the Forum and download the latest version of RailMaster. You'll find a link to it at the top of the page (v1.64 Revision 4)

Also look at the top posts on the RailMaster Forum (RailMaster Help Site & RailMaster: Setting Up and Getting Started). They contain a lot of information that should help you overcome your problems which are likely to be a simple configuration problem.

If all else fails send an e-mail to HRMS (RailMaster support) from within RailMaster and they will get back to you and help you out (including connecting to your PC by remote control if necessary). Don't send a help request directy to Hornby because they will only forward it to RailMaster support and thus introduce a delay in the response.

RailMaster does not need an internet connection to work, it just uses it on startup to see if there is an update availalbe for the software thus it is quite possible to run RailMaster with no internet connection whatsoever

Hi,  welcome. In the first place Railmaster, has no need and does not use the internet, during running, so thats a red herring.. I presume, you are aware, that both locos have 003, as their original number, and you will need to change one, or they will both run together. If you just for now, run one, does that perform ok.  You also need to know what update/ release of Railmaster you are on, which is shown in a little yellow box, at the bottom of the screen on the right hand side. It would also be helpful to know what anti virus you have, and which version of windows.  On previous similar posts, you will find sage advice from Chrissaf, telling you that you may have to add 2 lines to your ini file, due to recent upgrades, but in order to do this, you first have to establish a connection with Railmaster from your elink. Have you checked your com port, in device manager, and if so, what number does it show.  This should keep you going for now, until the DCC gang read your post, and add bits i have forgotten. Come back with answers, as that will help their advice. john

RTBoy,

.

I gave you a full answer and solution to your issue in your other recent "Faulty eLink" post, the question you raised there is almost identical to this posted question.

.

I assume you are repeating your question here as Fishmanoz suggested it to you in his last reply in that thread, in order to make your question your own.

.

If you are repeating your question here because the solution I gave you in the other post is just going completely over your head and you haven't a clue how to progress it. Then I humbly suggest that you will be unlikely to resolve your issue on your own. In which case your best bet is to raise a support request using the inbuilt help system within Railmaster (see 1.63 manual page 134) requesting that HRMS (Hornby RailMaster Support) log in to your PC and do all the configuration mods for you to leave you with a working system.

.

Note that the quoted e-mail address on manual page 134 is incorrect. It should read support@rail-master.com only use this external mail address if you get an error message using the inbuilt system as the inbuilt system sends diagnostic files from your PC to HRMS as part of the reporting process.

Should have added, I think Fishy's intention was for you to repost your question in the forum 'RailMaster' section, not this 'General' query one. eLink is part of RailMaster. Just be aware if you can't find this post again at a later time, it may have been moved to the 'RailMaster' section by admin.
