Drewe Manton Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 27 Sqdn SEAC. Mr Color and IPP lacquers, oils for weathering, final finish is Vallejo acrylic varnish. Done with H&S Infinity and Iwata HP-CH airbrushes (or, a I believe the nomenclature goes, an "airy stick" or two. http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s463/Dmanton300/airfix%20SEAC%20Beaufighter/52_zpsqpqiw3vg.jpghttp://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s463/Dmanton300/airfix%20SEAC%20Beaufighter/53_zps7rqqqj3l.jpghttp://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s463/Dmanton300/airfix%20SEAC%20Beaufighter/54_zps0oj4pa6r.jpghttp://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s463/Dmanton300/airfix%20SEAC%20Beaufighter/55_zpsokcotmdh.jpghttp://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s463/Dmanton300/airfix%20SEAC%20Beaufighter/56_zpsiqaq6gip.jpghttp://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s463/Dmanton300/airfix%20SEAC%20Beaufighter/57_zps3khnaihx.jpghttp://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s463/Dmanton300/airfix%20SEAC%20Beaufighter/58_zpse98iak9t.jpghttp://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s463/Dmanton300/airfix%20SEAC%20Beaufighter/59_zpskfc2qygh.jpg
Mike Grant Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I'm deeply envious of the finishes you achieve. That looks superb.
Drewe Manton Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 I'm deeply envious of the finishes you achieve. That looks superb. You? Envious of MY finishes?!? Sorry, did I wake up in a parrallel universe? ;)
Jonathan Mock Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Beau-tiful. Do you mist the final varnish layer on, or put down a wet coat and let it settle?
peebeep Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 The SEAC scheme sits very well on the Beau, very nicely done.
Jonathan Mock Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Second that, SEAC schemes have rarely featured in Airfix kits.
Drewe Manton Posted January 14, 2016 Author Posted January 14, 2016 The final finish is a liberal, only slightly thinned mix of Vallejo flat and gloss varnish applied using just enough pressure to ensure atomisation. Works every time!
Brian Canell Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Wow! Looks like another one I'll have to get.
Jonathan Mock Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I'm looking forward to the next release with the 45 Sqn "Firedog" markings. That medium sea grey and back scheme is very neat.
peebeep Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Second that, SEAC schemes have rarely featured in Airfix kits. There's been a couple more recently - off the top of my head Hurricane IIC, B-24 and C-47.
Jonathan Mock Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Add in 1/48 Spitfire VIII (Ex Otaki) and that's pretty much all the SEAC schemes that have appeared in Airfix kits.
