Railmaster uses link to controller after set up

I am running windows 7 and updated railmaster yesterday. It opens ok and sets points but then says connection us list due to short circuit or USB connections. Both of these are ok. Does anyone gave any advice?

It should say 'loses' not 'uses'

Your issue is a well documented one. As Roger says, there are many varied threads on the subject all over this forum site, not just the Railmaster section. The most informative is this one. Fifth post down on page 1 of the thread made by HRMS. You need to follow ALL steps suggested, but pay particular attention to the need to add two extra lines to your railmaster.ini file. Adding these two lines correctly will prevent the popups you have described.
