Baz48 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Hi , I know that many of you are train spotters as well as model railway enthusiasts, just a line to tell you that I travelled to Bty, Bolton Rd Station to the East Lancs Railway early on Sunday morning to see the Flying Scotsman in action, fully steamed and running unaided. I was very fortunate as we had heavy overnight snow and I had to clear the car and my drive before setting off at about 0730, I say fortunate be- ALL the BEST , Barry.cause the bad weather and freezing conditions vastly reduced the number of trainspotters on the station, although the numbers built up as the morning progressed there was still plenty of room on the platform to take photos etc. -The previous Saturday there had been so many people trying to get on the platform that the station had to close for safety reasons- such is the power of the Scotsman. The loco was in it's wartime black livery and numbered in it's old LNER number 103. these runs are trials and it will soon be painted in its BR livery as soon as any problems have been rectified, it is soon to be running on the North Yorks Railway and then all over the place finishing at the NRM in York,-Thanks!
walkingthedog Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Glad you had a good time Baz. Good to see that sometimes snow has its good points. All of what you say about the loco, colour scheme, future colour scheme and where it is bound has already been discussed on here.
