1934 Brighton Belle coaches R4512/13/14....

I've been looking for ages to try to find the three coaches for my 1934 Brighton Belle set but they are as rare as rocking horse muck.

Do any of you have these you may wish to sell or can you advise me where else to look.

The numbers are R4512/13/14 with the electric 4 pin couplers to go with my set R2987X, the brown and cream variety.

If not then the 1960 version of the coaches would do, there's only me to care whether they are compatible or not !

Hi Badgercote, there is a idiot on eBay with the r4512 for sale at £90 plus post ,I've got the same b b as you but no extra cars ,I wouldn't add the blue ones just for the sake of it ,you'll have to keep searching ,make it your quest ,,,,,you'll get them eventually,,,,,,,mjb

Badgercote maybe worth finding a toy fair or two near you or maybe ringing RH&DR railway model exhibition  they have a second hand ode land book shop clutching at straws I know but always worth a try

Considering the power cars are currently selling at about 50% of RRP because there are no centre coaches for either the 1934 ore 1960s version means it is going to be a sellers’ market for those coaches. It hardly requires a degree in advanced economics to work this out. A lack of supply and a high demand, prices will go up.

No folks... it's the 1960 brown and cream ones I'd have as the alternatives, not the blue and grey ones which I think are 1969.

Did you imagine I'd have a brown and cream front and rear and blue and grey middles ????!!!!!

That would upset a few purists.

I might try it.

As you said Badgecote they are very rare and are sold out with every major Hornby stockists. Your only real chance is eBay but prices are rising on them as people have got a really good bargain on the power cars only now to find out the reason why. Seems to be slightly more of R4512 around than the other two. As mjb1961 pointed out there was one on eBay but it has now sold. Looking for things like this at shows is highly unlikely to bear fruit, who is going to bother taking sought after items like this to a show to sell for half the price they can sell them for sitting in the comfort of their own home.

Trade in the power cars you have for the blue set and buy the coaches for that is your best option

They should all have been sold as full sets with the power cars as per the Bachmann Midland Pullman set, then they would all be complete sets and not having motor units without centre cars.

Yes Vespa but Hornby always do this and never seem to get the balance right. If they had done that with the Network Rail measurement train then at least there might have been a chance of even getting the pantograph coach. Why the EWS Manager’s train pack was sold with one coach missing is beyond me, it would not have significantly increased the cost of it. Maybe they just did not want to have to make a bigger box.

Hi ,Badgercote, hope you read this in time ,I've had a Google and for R4514 coach it turns up a result for Humbrol as having just 1 left ,it looks like the Hornby website to me but is headed Humbrol ,,,£47.99 free delivery ,,,,,,,,,,mjb

Humbrol are part of Hornby so I am guessing this is a bug in the site. Seen this before on the main Hornby site, items suddenly jumping back into stock and then orders getting cancelled. Happened to me on 3 separate occasions on the run up to Christmas.

hi rushtonhornsby ,you could rename / re number one of the 4512s to give you a set if it can be done ,the 1934 B B power car set is beautiful and they are still holding there price ,,,,,,

HI mjb1961,i dont posess the skills to change the r4512,so i will leave it as it is,i think, that  is  assuming  all 3 coaches will couple up ok.I havent even taken them out of there boxes yet.I need to look around for the driving cars now,i did see two boxed sets on saturday though.Assuming the coaches will couple,im not too worried that two of them are the same.

I have the brighton 5 car unit in blue /grey with the correct and different centre coaches.

Wow, you lucky so and so.

I've got a cracking offer for you... you've got something you've admitted you don't want, I've got fifty english pounds in my pocket you could have. All you have to do is bob them in the post to me and I'll reimburse you fifty english pounds.

We're both happy then... well I would be. You'd only be out of pocket by about 94 pounds instead of the 144 that you're out now. Me, I'd have some nice BB coaches in a home where they would be loved and cared for.

Unbeatable, unrepeatable offer.

Err it is actually a Buy it Now not an Auction so there is no bidding. Might be a bargain as cars on their own seem to be selling for £90 each.

I am not mistaken was the original RRP of the coaches about £50 and the power cars £200 so making a total of about £350 for the 5 car set. If it now costs £250 for the coaches and the power cars can be bought for around £100 does this not still make it approximately the same price. Swings and roundabouts.
