The Boeing 737 is a short to medium range single aisle short haul airliner. It has been in continuous production by Boeing since 1967 and is today (2014) the world’s most numerous passenger aircraft. There are on average 1,250 737s airborne at any one time such is the overwhelming popularity of this small airliner. The 737 comes in various distinct variants with this -200 version modelled here being amongst the earliest of the variants. The -200 can seat up to 113 passengers in comfort and is marketed as a quiet, safe, reliable short haul airliner. Speed: 544 mph; Wingspan: 28.35 m; Length 29.57 m.

Airfix first issued this kit in 1969 with Lufthansa markings. British Airways and Air France markings first appeared in 1987 with Ansett and Air New Zealand introduced in 2010. The kit is packed in a Type 16 tray type box. The injection moulded plastic is made in India and sealed in a polybag. The kit is marked as Skill Level 2, construction is illustrated in 3 exploded diagrams. 2 Flying Hours are printed on the box. Paint call outs are for Humbrol: 11 Metallic Silver 22 Gloss White 33 Matt Black 40 Gloss Pale Grey 56 Metallic Aluminium 9 Gloss Tan 18 Gloss Orange 19 Gloss Bright Red

The model is scaled to 1/144 with the Airfix code (03181) moulded on the light grey runner. There is a mixture of engraved and raised panel detail on the 48 component parts. http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24516326/408841598.jpg

Decals for Boeing 737-204C/ADV, N6BSW, Southwest Airlines, 1984 and Boeing 737-204C, G-AXNB, Britannia Airways, 1971 are printed by Cartograf. The decals appear to be to the usual high standard. http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24516326/408841601.jpg
