RFtrains Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I heard that class 31 network rail have discontined. So i thought about buying a railroad loco and repainting it yellow plus adding my own decals to it. And wonder is it alright to use humbrol ayrclic paint for locos in railroad??
2e0dtoeric Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 If you want to do that - it's your train! Acrylic paint is fine on Hornby plastics.
RFtrains Posted January 22, 2016 Author Posted January 22, 2016 Ok. Just wanted to know. Do i have to take varnish off? And if yes how?
Chrissaf Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 RF, I highly recommend you watch The stripping of the old paint products and technique starts at 4m:12s into the 35m video. But do watch all the way through from the beginning.
81F Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I've resprayed a number of Hornby items of rolling stock with a variety of paint including Humbrol Acrylics. The only trouble I had was with a Railroad Pullman Brake when matt varnishing - it went white! However, that may have neen atmospheric conditions - It was very cold.
The son of Triangman Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Acrylics are ok but not revsersible, once it dries it's there for good.
