james_nelmes Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I recently bought a non-powered Class 90 with the aim of powering it. I went to the Service Sheet (359c) and the quality of information was poor. The motor is not identified (although a reasonable amount of research and subsequent installation shows it's a x6122. The two smaller gears (x6281) should sit on axles which are not shown. The drive wheels have a gearwheel on their axle which is not shown. The pickups on the non-powered bogie are not shown or part numbers listed, which are a fundamental part of the drive mechanism. This makes it difficult to maintain locomotives and combined with a shortage of spares for a number of loco's (the complete drive unit for this locomotive is listed but unavailable at any of the various spares websites). The older service sheets were always of a high quality and made maintenance of locomotives a resonably easier task. I would ask that some of these issues are addressed and where possible the flow of spare parts is addressed.
