Tony Wells Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 A quick question please - Although I have the last but one book of track plans, I missed buying the last one and am now looking for some different layouts to try, curtesy of my quarter scale plastic track pieces. As there wasn't much changed between the previous book and mine, can anyone tell me if this continued with the last book or are there new layouts please? I have been looking for a copy of this mast book, by the way, but such as Amazon are 'out of stock' and eBay hasn't listed any for quite a while, only the older ones. If there are new layouts, will anyone sell me a copy please, or even loan me it so that I can copy any new layouts? TIA Tony Wells.
Bulleidboy Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Hi TonyI have a fair collection of Hornby Track Plan books, and I'm pretty certain that R8140 "2009" was the last edition. It has a green Hornby N Class on the front cover. It does have new layouts, and the text is in several languages. I've only just noticed that the receipt, which was still inside, says it's the 12th Edition, but it does not say that on the book. I would suggest you watch ebay, there always copies of the Track Plan books on ebay, although this one is not showing at the moment. Best of luck in finding one. BB
Tony Wells Posted January 31, 2016 Author Posted January 31, 2016 Thanks BB! I have Books 1 - 9 on a couple of DVD's that I bought, but have the paper version of Book 10. Books 9 and 10 look to be identical apart from the background colour of the boxes showing the contents of the track packs, having a close up of half a set of points on ballasted track. My paper copy of Book 11 has a picture of a small black saddle tank loco, a blue A4 with three coaches and a green LNER loco No 4475 or possibly 4476 and part of a coach in a station area, plus a general picture of a made up baseboard, on the cover. Further, they are all in just English, with no foreign languages. It would therefore seem that yours really is Book 12, despite the date. I will therefore look out for a copy of this R8140. Tony.
Kevsdad Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 I'm new to this so this may not be the correct way of raising a question.I have super 4 track dating from around about 1969/70 and it made a layout from a Tri-ang Hornby track plan book. Unfortunately I have mislaid the plan so at the moment I cannot recreate the experience I had when I was a boy.The plan I used was plan 5 which if I recall was 2 continuous circuits, one with a passing loop and there were a couple of sidings. The size was 6 foot by 4 foot.I know it's a longshot but if anyone out there can assist it would be appreciated.
Howbi Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Hi, Kevsdad.............have a look here, Hornby track plans plus loads of others may be of some help.........http://www.freetrackplans.com/Hornby-Plans.php HB
Fishmanoz Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Hi Kevsdad, looking in the current track plan book, there doesn't appear to be any such layout although there are a couple of basic double ovals but neither with passing loop. Even the full trackmat layouts, made with the basic oval plus extension packs, while only 6 x 4, don't have a passing loop. So I think your best chance is via HB's link.
