Ratch Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I'm not sure whether your question is about your airbrush or the paint you was using or alternatives for the colour required.
Oliver Hyett Posted January 30, 2016 Author Posted January 30, 2016 what ratio should i use for humbrol paints because i used the 2 parts paint to 1 part water as suggested by humbrol and my airbrush clogged up.it is for a Volimart which is like an iwata (the airbrush) (gravity fed.
DavidJC Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I take it you are using water with Humbrol acrylics and not enamels? Although many say you can use water to thin, I am twitchy about that. I use water for cleaning, yes, but I always use the paint's own thinner. Part of that is because I live in a very hard water area and I wonder if that can have an affect on acrylic paints. There's a balance with thinning. You not thin enough, leading to heavy paint that is hard if not impossible to spray, but you can overthin it too. Always test an old scrap model first to check. Overthinning leads to awful clumping/beading on the surface as well as all the paint running to the nearest natural edge where it will collect in a 'run'.
