LCDR Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 A friend is modyfying some Dapol / Airfix RTR 21 ton Hopper wagons to become Internal User wagons on a BSC / NCB layout. He finds that the plastic they use will not react to any solvent or glue, so he is struggling to secure the body to the chassis. Any ideas?
walkingthedog Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Can it be bolted on LC? I think there are glues available for sticking that type of plastic. Do they call it 'hard plastic'? http://info.craftechind.com/blog/bid/323475/Stick-to-it-A-Guide-to-the-Best-Glue-for-Plastic
walkingthedog Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Might work. Hope so. Give him something to read won't it?
oldpottsline. Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 There are two types of hopper chassis, one was fitted using two screws the other can be done with Powerbond 806 or uhu glue.
LCDR Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 I have to make a chimney for an O gauge Q1 I am scratch building and I have found a couple of spring protectors from a Lantern battery are exactly the right shape. The smokebox is plastic card, the caps are hard plastic. I shall have to try Powebond 806 I guess.
