Tigg Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Hello,I recently got a load of locos bought off ebay tested and turns out that the model (along with a few others) of R066 'Duchess of Sutherland' (yes, the old one) apparently doesnt work.Watching a couple of YouTube videos and taking the motor out of the tender chassis etc. I made a potential diagnosis of worn/dirty pick-ups and brushes. I've attached a couple of pictures - feel free to look. Am I correct in my assumption or is it something else potentially wrong with it? Also happened to notice that there are no wires between the trailing wheel bogie and the loco body chassis. Is this normal for this model? All help appriaciated. P.S. Are there particular tools/a tool kit that would be appropriate for taking the motor of one of these models appart as I've found some of my small screw drivers are still too big for removing gear cogs and such like?
RDS Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 I have just found this unanswered post. Can anyone answer.
VESPA Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 With respect RDS the OP is nearly a year old and the photos are not clear when blown up. I doubt that the OP is still in possession or has sorted it out by now as he never came back to the thread. Here is a link to the tender drive service sheet.... http://www.hornbyguide.com/service_sheet_details.asp?sheetid=33
walkingthedog Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 The pictures show nothing just the outside of the motor. Bit like showing a picture of a car and saying why won't it start. Changing the brushes cleaning the commutator would be a good start.
LCDR Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 I wonder if this link copied from another answer may help.
RDS Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 ... the OP is nearly a year old ... Yes, I agree but it is unusual for a thread to go completely un-answered.
walkingthedog Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Maybe it disappeared amongst a group adverts for fake passports
RDS Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 WTD, maybe it did but one of my Com Mod colleagues has removed a number of Spam posts this afternoon, so hopefully Spam won't last long anymore.
