Dekc Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Hi everyone,Trying to service my grandsons Intercity engine but do not know the correct service sheet number. Can anyone help please ?Frustrated Grandad
96RAF Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Enter the models R number if you know it else the name in the service sheets search area of the help and advice tab on this web site.
Chrissaf Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 It will be an easier task to provide an answer to your question if you could provide the Hornby Rxxxx number for the loco..Try this one, it may be a close match https://www.hornby.com/servicesheets/index/download/id/97/.Note: clicking the link may give the impression it is doing nothing. Check your nominated browser download folder. You should find the service sheet has downloaded to it.
walkingthedog Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Searching for an R number will not bring up a Service Sheet.
Chrissaf Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Strange, because that was exactly how I found the one I posted a link for. I searched Google to find a suitable R number (one of many). Inputted the R number into the search box (the one on the service sheet menu page, not the general search box), and got the above posted result..Adam did make a comment that the new forum had improved search capabilities, maybe this is one of them.
walkingthedog Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 If I enter the R number in the top right search box on the Service Sheet page it brings up the loco not the SS. If I put the R numbering the SKU (???) search box it finds nothing. If I put Castle or Class 47 in the SKU box it finds a service sheet.
Chrissaf Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Go back to the search box on the Service Sheet page (the one where it says enter SKU) input R2701 and see what happens!!.I do agree however, that the number of searchable R numbers in the database seem limited. It only finds R numbers that are actually printed on the SS.
walkingthedog Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 It worked and so did some others. Try R3491. All the examples I tried weren't there.
Tony57 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 HiServeral problems with service sheets it would help if service sheets 1 - 100 and 101 - 200 were also available as this will cover a large number of locos made by Triang Hornby and Triang. There are a number of loco that are covered by 3 if not 4 service sheets coving a range of 40+ years 9F Evening Star/2 10 0 has 4 if not 5 with the new one in railroad range for instance, Class 90 has 3 different motor configerations hence three different service sheets. So its not that simple.
Tony57 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 HI DekcCan you advice me what engine or engines you are requiring service sheets for If R xxxx available it would help if not what type and loco number. ie Class 47, 47 209 or D1597. I have referance books I can look up to get you the correct sheets.Tony
Dekc Posted February 7, 2016 Author Posted February 7, 2016 HiThanks For swift replies everyone, seems to have started a discussion !Thanks Chrissaf, I have downloaded the service sheet you recommended but doesn't seem to be the one. Thanks TonyI have taken the top off the engine and inside the roof is an R number inscribed, this is R070 is this the correct number.Derek
Chrissaf Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 R070 is showing as a Hornby turntable. But even allowing for a typo in your posted reply, any number inscribed inside the roof panel is more likely to refer to the roof (body) as a spare part number. The model R number would normally (if provided) be inscribed on the underside of the model into the chassis. Do you still have any boxes or packaging. If the loco was part of a train-set, then the train-set R number would be useful. If all else fails try and post a photo of the loco, then it may be identifiable from that by the eagle eyed on here.
Rog RJ Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Lendons of Cardiff have lots of older service sheets. Is this the one you need? http://www.lendonsmodelshop.co.uk/pdf/Hornby%20Service%20Sheets/No.108%20HST%20Power%20Car.pdfIt includes R.069 and R.070 Another excellent source is the Hornby guide, http://www.hornbyguide.com although this isn't working at the moment and has been troublesome for a while.

Dekc Posted February 7, 2016 Author Posted February 7, 2016 Hi I have separately downloaded a photo but it filled the page so I couldn't reply. Can't find an R number anywhere else.Derek
Chrissaf Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Here is another earlier thread regarding the R.069/R.070 HST 125 relating to DCC conversion. It might possibly be of interest for the future, even if not of interest at the current time..PS - the suggested Service Sheet 108 [ link kindly provided by Rog(RJ) above ] looks to be the correct one as it has R.069/R.070 specifically stated on it..Rogers link made clickable:http://www.lendonsmodelshop.co.uk/pdf/Hornby%20Service%20Sheets/No.108%20HST%20Power%20Car.pdf
Rog RJ Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Thanks Chris. I've just logged on to my PC (instead of my tablet) to make the link clickable - don't need to now!
Tony57 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Hi GuysOne thing everyone has to remember is that old Rovex Triang, Triang Hornby and early Hornby used R 001 - R 999 numbering system (pre computerisation) so the same product number was used for different items as they were updated and given a new number a differant new product was given that vacant number so R number searches do not always work, that is why I ask for loco class type and loco number if R number is not known.
Dekc Posted February 7, 2016 Author Posted February 7, 2016 Hi everyoneLooked at the link provided by Rog(RJ) and it is the correct model. Now need to get to work........Thanks allGreat forum !
