10 Class Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Hello everyone. Are there any Triang TT Electric Turntable (T45) "experts" in the field please?I purchased a T45 from Ebay, and when it arrived it was actually a hand operated version, which has been converted to electric operation, complete with the instructions to carry out the conversion. From what i can tell, the conversion has been carried out correctly as per the instructions and everything looks to be perfect in every detail, the motor works really well in both directions. However, the TT does not work as it should, as the TT does not stop at the inlet/outlet tracks as it goes around and if it does stop the dwell time is almost non existant and some/most times it jams and the motor assembly is pushed back on the spring.Several times i have removed the bridge from the base and realigned the "A" marks as stated in the insructions, however, there is no improvement in operation. There are no missing or broken parts that i can see, and it is obviously a sequencing problem on the gearing!Any other good/bad experiences with these Turntables?More importantly does anybody know of a solution please?I have another T45, which was built as an electric version and is perfect in operation!Wish i could take it to Margate for repairs! (Ha Ha)Regards
The son of Triangman Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Definitely an assembly issue. From what I remember of these, they were tricky beasts to get working properly. Is the dwel gear up the right way?
2e0dtoeric Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 If it always stops in the same wrong positions, ignore the printed/moulded alignment marks, make your own, and work from those!
10 Class Posted February 10, 2016 Author Posted February 10, 2016 Thank you all for your help!A drop of oil on the dwell (smooth) portion of the dwell gear has fixed the problem and the TT runs fine now! Cheers
The son of Triangman Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 A result. The most common problem is fitting the dwell gear incorrectly with this turntable causing the same symptoms. Glad it was just a lubrication issue this time
Blackbird Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Nice to see Tri-ang TT subjects discussed on this forum. I would point out that the R408, 00 gauge turntable used the same mechanism as the T45 TT version (including the same motor). In some ways superior to the later R070 Hornby version, but with less outlets available.
