Wobblinwheel Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I have to say, the new(?) lighting set-up in some Hornby coaches is VERY good! It is a capacitive-discharge system, and will NOT flicker. Stays on for a good five seconds without power! This would make an excellent accessory from Hornby, and hopefully would be reasonably priced (hint-hint). Also good in the fact that it would not need but ONE power pickup from the wheels in order to work (meaning one from each rail, of course). They give off really good light, without being too bright, HOWEVER, they will show-off a poorly-detailed interior! The shells come-off easily on these too. Waiting on the KITS, Hornby!
Wobblinwheel Posted February 12, 2016 Author Posted February 12, 2016 Something in the £5.00 to £10.00 range would be nice......
Fazy Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Pics please would be helpful. You could paint the inside. Or there's a stick on set available on EBay for the MK1's
Postman Prat Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Hi Fazy Many, many years ago (when I were but a lad) Peco did coach interiors for Kitmaster Mk 1s. However, they were card and they weren't 'stick on'. If anyone here is considering buying them, just make sure that they are what you think they are.
dynax Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I'll stick with my own coach lighting and at less than a pound a coach for the components and a bit of soldering, and the new version is even better than the old one, some may disagree but it works for me in what i want,

Will you let me know where it is, so's I can give it a good look? Ever since the Radio Shacks in the US folded, I'm not even sure where to get electronic components these days.
Chrissaf Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Buy online, and in the US then digikey.com is AFAIK your biggest home grown online component supplier.
dynax Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Hi WW, i,ve added my youtube channel to my signature, i can't make it clickable you will need to highlight it and open it, hope this helps, also if you use the forum search for automatic coach lights it will bring up the thread, i source my components from ebay, most of which comes from china,
trainlover23 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I am afraid you will be waiting a long time for the kits Wobbley Wheel at least you managed to like something Hornby made which is a change
96RAF Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Hi WW, i,ve added my youtube channel to my signature, i can't make it clickable you will need to highlight it and open it...I got Adam to make mine clickable but it interfered with the avatar. Currently we can't have both at the same time but he is working on it.
poppasmurf Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I don't see the point of lights inside coaches to be honest. I've got three Pullmans which have this feature in a train of seven, and it makes them look odd. Especially when the rake is parked in a coach siding. To my mind, it's just an excuse to stick an extra few pounds on the price.
