Harrison Greaves1707820021 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 ADVICE OR TIPS, I’ve painted mini figures plenty of times but always wanted more depth from the model. I have just bought some bigger mini figures 1/48 scale and have seen lots of people using wash on there figures, from what I’ve seen on YOUTUBE it works really well. Any advice on using washes would be great such as brushing techniques, what type for the colours ETC.Thanks
SunrayOne Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Hi! I've just started using Humbrol washes - specifically the Black and Blue/Gray. I have to say I'm not wildly impressed with them so far. The effect is great, but the black wash is so thin you have to do several passes over panel lines to get them to stand out, and the Blue/Gray is almost as thick as paint! It's a simple technique though. Coat the model with gloss varnish first to help the wash flow along detail lines. When the wash has dried, remove the excess using a cotton bud moistened with thinners. Then apply mor varnish to seal it in.
