Short or overload when tender attached

Hi have Dcc fitted City of Bristol.  Used to run fine. Still does with no tender but when tender attached it overloads. Tried with both select and railmaster + elink.  Occasionially does a couple of circuits and then overloads.  Any suggestions welcomed

Chances are one of the metal connections at the tender post is bent.

I'll have a look at that.  Is it the copper wires from the loco you mean where the pender post goes in?

The tender has a conductive post with the vertical bit being one contact and the plates above it on the tender being the other contact.

 

On the loco you have a clamp under the drawbar that grips the post (one contact) and two fingers above the drawbar (that get bent all over the place) that bear on the tender plates (second contact).

 

just make sure the fingers are biased upwards equally to make contact with the tender plates and that the clamp bit is tight but not too tight on the post.

It's good to let us know that you have sorted it - but the benefit of others who may experience the same problem, or even just for general interest.  How did you sort it?

Looked at the copper wires and straightened them.  Then lifted them up a bit so that they didnt catch the tender post.
