Bric Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 My son has a hornby track layout which he is looking to change. However on lifting the track from the board the sleepers are breaking up and coming away from the track. Any thoughts on why?
walkingthedog Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Glued down track can be a devil of a job to lift. If the track is nailed down it is very important to make sure every nail is carefully removed. If one is accidentally left in place a whole length of track can be destroyed.
Bric Posted March 24, 2016 Author Posted March 24, 2016 The track is nailed down onto the base board.
Bric Posted March 24, 2016 Author Posted March 24, 2016 The track is nailed down but it is disintegrating before it is even lifted. Can direct sunlight damage the track?
WilliamDavid Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Plastic becomes brittle over time. I've never had much luck in reusing track.
