Paul60
I'm just a beginner but I've figured out that locos with carriages need lots of long straights to really 'stretch out'I have decided to build the Hornby trackmat layout A to F but extend it by around 4 feet to give my locos realistic long sections. That looks pretty easy to do if you look at that layout and cheaply too.The bigger the better I reckon. Whatever you can squeeze in !
walkingthedog
What you need to remember is that you can only comfortably reach about 3 feet so if the blard is 4ft wide you either need to be able to gain access to both sides or have a hole in the middle. 96RAF
While the centre island layout is fine for trackmat type layouts you will find that an outer wall layout with a centre 'operating hole' could give you a much better layout.
