Paul60 Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 I'm just a beginner but I've figured out that locos with carriages need lots of long straights to really 'stretch out'I have decided to build the Hornby trackmat layout A to F but extend it by around 4 feet to give my locos realistic long sections. That looks pretty easy to do if you look at that layout and cheaply too.The bigger the better I reckon. Whatever you can squeeze in !
walkingthedog Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 What you need to remember is that you can only comfortably reach about 3 feet so if the blard is 4ft wide you either need to be able to gain access to both sides or have a hole in the middle.
train addict72 Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 thx i only stated when i was 6(you might think i have been doing it for ages then but no im only11 😉)and i too have A-F and an extra A pack but thanks for the idea even if i cant use it yet because i only have 2xBRclass 06 diesel shunters and the blue diamond with only 4 rolling stock 😢.dont tell the experts.noobs need to stick lick glue 😎
96RAF Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 While the centre island layout is fine for trackmat type layouts you will find that an outer wall layout with a centre 'operating hole' could give you a much better layout.
