A Hornby Jubilee?

As far as I'm aware, Hornby have never produced a model of an LMS Jubilee, with Mainline and Bachmann having produced various incarnations over the years.

I understand the arugments about duplicating the market etc but it still strikes me as being odd that Hornby have never produced a model of this class - especially as they've done the Royal Scots, the Patriots and the larger staniers as well. It seems like an obvious gap.

Does anyone know why Hornby have never attempted this one?

IAlways thought they made one back in the dark ages of the 70's-early 80's. Or was that, that red Black5  they did.

It would be nice if Hornby did a model of one. They could do the second boiler type and ever the two tenders type Bachmann don't bother with. I could end up with a few midland based jub's then.

Yes, a Black 5 in LMS Red Livery....Tender Drive.

2 versions it seems, the earlier had simple boiler handrails with split pins, and "Britannia" valve gear and cylinders. The later has plastic hand-rail knobs, and the Cylinders and Valve Gear used on the LMS Duchess of Sutherland Model.

It would be possible to "bash" a Black 5 into a Jubilee it would seem, the driving wheels on the Jub are larger diameter, and so the Jub has Splashers (none on the Black uns), and the reversing lever is different.

It is an idea..... 😉

Now that would be a challenge to base to bash a black 5 in to a jubilee.

Has for why Hornby haven't made a jubilee I can only think by the time Hornby thought of it either Airfix, Mainline, and now Bachmann where already making them

True but there's a lot of waste!

Just look at all those copper toped chimneys models they keep producing for some reason far beyond my understanding!

That should get people taking.

Alesso I don't think we will ever know why they haven't Made a jubilee.  But I can recommend the Bachmann one if you really want one I have a few and would say they really do go nice with the Hornby rebuilt scots and pats

They make the copper capped chimney locos because they're beautiful. The two companies don't do much duplication with GWR locos. Just the Hall I think.

I suppose  the question could be asked why haven't Bachmann made a Black 5. One if the most well known steam locos there is.

There are also the two Kings...Hornby and Hattons....

Other duplications, wierd ones...

Adams "Radial" Tanks, Hornby and Oxford.

That SR Electric (Class 71?) Hornby and DJ Models.

The Oxford Dean Goods can be seen as a sort of upgrade to the old Hornby model...

The same can possibly be said of the Hattons 14XX, and other recent models already made in the past?

As Hornby make two different Black 5s (Main Range and Railroad, and the other version in Green as Henry), there is rather a glut of OO Black 5s....
