Alessio
As I buy much of my stuff from ebay, I have quite a lot of unboxed carriages. Most of these are currently wrapped in bubble wrap and placed in a larger box, but I was just wondering if any forum members had recommendations of how to store carriages which come unboxed? I don't have the option of a display cabinet unfortunately. Cheers!
Tony57
Hi AlessioI am the same as you in buying unboxed used items off e bay. What I use is garden seed trays card or paper in the bottom put five coaches side by side card or paper over the top if care stacked two high on a shelf. The other thing I have used is the cardboard containers that 12 tins of Beans etc are delivered on.Tony
walkingthedog
Bachmann make excellent cardboard storage boxes. Take a look. http://www.cheltenhammodelcentre.com/products/21743-Bachmann-SBOO-2-Tier-Storage-Box-Holds-30-Small-Wagons-or-10-Coaches/ Available elsewhere. poliss
I store mine in specially made to fit foam storage boxes. Not the white polystyrene stuff, but the kind you'll find in camera boxes. Mine are for N scale. The chap used to make them for 00, but I haven't seen any of those lately.
BrumDave
I do the same as Tony above but buy various sizes of cardboard gift boxes from cheap shops, cheap and safe way of storing locos etc., only takes a few minutes to fold some 300gsm card into seperate sections. Slornie
For my unboxed items I bought some of these off ebay (this seller has them in different sizes and quantities): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10x-MEDIUM-WHITE-REPLACEMENT-CARD-BOX-TRAINS-LOCO-COACH-OO-HO-/401078501856 Simple flat-pack card set which comes with all the fold points ready scored/perforated for ease of assembly. Acid Free Tissue paper is the best wrapper.... You can also make storage boxes using A4 Box Files. These will need some dividers to break up the space though. The Box Files should be stored flat.... We have a shelving unit full of rolling stock in Box Files.

2e0dtoeric
Don't forget to label the container with what it contains - saves a lot of frustrated unpacking and re-packing!ie on the outside - LMS Coaches - and on the top inside, a comprehensive list of the names/numbers, on a piece of A4. ReddersJ
/media/tinymce_upload/505438261810f652100e50d335baec0d.JPG An excellent store is the "Really Useful Box" - 5 Litre one, with foam seperators. There is a larger one at 9 Litres, which could store a couple of layers. The nice thing is that both 5 * 9 Litre boxes stack with interlocking ridges. The foam could be DIY or pre-cut from the internet/model shows.Julian
walkingthedog
Very good idea 2e0. Until I labelled my four Bachmann boxes I'd spend 10 minutes opening the wrong ones.

These will need some dividers to break up the space though. The Box Files should be stored flat.... I did the same thing. The edges of the file boxes were lined with left over cork sheet, and partitions were added from corrigated cardboard. /media/tinymce_upload/ad9b10b325a2379fbe5cf4d1e487ed7b.jpg /media/tinymce_upload/8aac324e2fd0a63f23b695a7300e8ae6.jpg
