Quick Route

Recommended Posts

Big Bear DCC Control software (a similar application to Railmaster) has a 'Quick Route' feature where with a touch screen you trace out a route with your finger over a route in your track plan (mimic). There is no equivalent feature in RailMaster.

.

The nearest thing in RailMaster is a pre-defined route that you set up (albeit, the manual uses the term 'Quick Route' to describe this process, but it is not particularly quick). You can set up multiple routes and choose the ones you want to set, but you can't configure them up on the fly in the same 'Quick Routes' fashion that is implemented in Big Bear.

.

Although in the RailMaster manual, the term 'Quick Routes' is used to describe the setting up of routes, these routes are configured in the track design window. Thus it takes some prior aforethought to configure them, and as you do it in the track plan design window, you are not in your normal RailMaster operational screen window. Thus they are not particularly 'Quick' to set up.

.

Anyway, the process is described in the following parts of the RM 1.64 manual:

.

"Page 87" where routes are predefined in the track plan window.

and

"Pages 107 to 110 Programmable Buttons" where you allocate a predefined route to a programmable screen button to implement (set) the route from within the operational RailMaster screen window.............and Yes, this does not require a 'touchscreen', you can use a left click mouse process to set a route.

One of the suggested future RM updates I listed was to be able to set a series of buttons at 'waypoints' on your trackplan and by pressing them in sequence a route could be set or by pressing first and last possible routes would be shown.

Of interest Rocrail has a routing feature as standard whereby the app works out ALL possible routes on your plan - there and back. You then pick from a drop down list and all your points set themselves up. Great feature that would work well in RM.
