rustonhornsby
Hello everyone, well,we went to Swindon yesterday and got home today and we wasnt dissapointed.First stop the Hornby shop.A great place, contains all the things you need. The lady that served me,Sophie, was so passionate about the shop and all things Hornby that she is truly a credit to Hornby, well done to her.I wont say how much i spent, but i spent way too much. The shopping centre where Hornby have there shop is situated in part of the old Swindon works, fascinating place.Next stop was the Steam museum, literally 5 minutes walk from the shopping centre and what a great place to visit,in fact im so impressed with it im going back later in the summer. To sum up then,i would recommend the Hornby shop to anyone contemplating a visit to Swindon, there are plenty of shops to keep swmbo occupied when you're in the Hornby shop and a visit to the Steam museum is a must as well. walkingthedog
We're going there on friday, meeting my mate and his SWMBO there. Our SWMBO's are shopping and we're Steaming plus the shop. I was in the shop about 2 months ago and agree that Sophie is a little gem.
rustonhornsby
Hornby take note, ive never met anyone in a retail environment who is so passionate about the company they work for or for the products they sell, you have a star employee here and sophie,if you are reading this,im the grey haired chap from Bournemouth who purchased a Brighton Belle 2 car unit amongst other things and was remonissing about my visits to the Hornby factory in the 1980s.Keep up the good work. Bulver
Wow, sounds like a visit is truly necessar, chaps. I will have no trouble getting my ladies to accompany me, only thing will be to find a non-motorway route from NW London that doesn't take forever! rustonhornsby
Message for walking the dog,let us know how you get on at the Hornby shop in swindon on friday,as i have mentioned,we went there last weekend and it certainly did not disappoint, say hello to Sophie for me and tell her to keep up the good work. If Hornby do an employee of the year award, she would certainly deserve it .Our trip was a round trip of 180 miles, but we stayed overnight .We hope to go again in august.A visit to the steam museum is a must as well. walkingthedog
Oki doki RH. I shall pass on your regards to Sophie. It's 80 miles each way for us but almost all dual carriageway and motorway so doesn't take long.
RDS
Thank you to rustonhornsby for raising this thread. I always find it enjoyable reading something like this and it is encouraging the fact that someone has taken the time to congratulate where it is due (and well done Sophie)

walkingthedog
Well I visited Sophie in the Hornby shop in Swindon today and gave her your regards RH. I told her she was famous and she said she'd looked at the forum and was feeling a little embarrassed by her new found fame.
