R.449 LNER CLERESTORY BRAKE question.

Correct. As I have about a dosen (including both brakes and composites) I mass produced the interiors by 3d printing but this is expensive.

I would also add the buffers on my Hornby ones were not great, they were the plactic heads used on some of the older models so I'm in the process of replacing these as I can get hold of metal ones.

Also as these were on BR Mk 1 bogies I fitted Railroad Gresley bogies to my LNER ones just to be different!

(note changing bogies on the Hornby ones is easy as they are just a clip fit, the triang versions have a rivit).

These model were originally released in 1961, as GWR coaches, to go with the "Lord of The Isles" loco.

They have also appeared as LMS and bright red models...also BR Crimson & Cream (!)... 😉

More modern versions have the plastic buffer heads in the holes originally occupied by the Tri-ang metal buffers, which had the stocks cast in with the buffers.

There are some "kits" for coach interiors available on that auction site, as mentioned in the current Model Rail magazine...

Hi GeoFF03

No interior but a set of very basic compartment dividers can easily be cut and folded out of card.

That will at least get rid of the see through wrong compartment windows problem.

I also used some thick card cut to shape to at least provide partitions 'tween the compartments. Bit of a fiddle at first to cut the card to shape mind [or at least thats want I found]. As a point of interest the composite version in teak livery or at least the version I bought a few years ago is numbered 3857. Which turns out to be a Gresley Corridor Third  [TK] Dia 155 that I'm part owner of in the LNER Coach Associations collection. It's currently based at Kirkby Stephen East which is part of the Eden Valley Railway group. Ultimately 3857 will be moved to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway once restored, as that's where I want "my" carriage to run, on "my" railway being a member of the NYMR.

/media/tinymce_upload/c16f86a3350c0939ad3083ee360c13b5.jpg This is a photo of the interior I made by 3d printing for the composite coach. As it is shown in grey primer, all I have to do now is persuade SWMBO to paint it sometime and get some of those cach photographs!
