edward_caudy
How do I convert old Zero 1 ready locos to dcc ? I have a few trains with zero 1 but want to change them to dcc . My favourite is the 2-4-4 LMS 4T but not sure how to convert it
poliss
You have the instruction sheet on how to convert them to Zero 1 originally? You need to reverse the process and then follow the process for converting them to DCC.
Fishmanoz
Can't find details of your loco, but in the absence of the instruction sheet poliss mentioned it's simple in principle. Remove all wiring, components and connections except the wires coming from the pickups. If more than one wire from either side pickups, solder their ends together. If there is a pickup connection to chassis, and a motor connection to chassis, you must isolate them so no motor connection to chassis. Now solder decoder red to pickup wires on one side and decoder black to the other. Finally, solder decoder orange and grey to the motor connections. Test before reassembly and, if loco runs backwards to what you want, swap orange and grey.
