graham martin
I am a big fan of the DFD concept, and have built several of the latest releases, which are excellent. The only change i would request is for the stand arms/supports to be made of clear plastic, like the old style single stands. I just think this would help to create the illusion of flight better than the current solid black ones provided. Maybe this should be on the wish list forum, but it would good to hear any other opinions.
vimal_indrasoma
On the other hand, the black stands do 'vanish' when placed against a dark background ... perhaps a thin steel rod would be better.
nmcabecadas
Don't like the stands and the aircraft are too close, seems they are going to crash one against other.
graham martin
I know what you mean about the aircraft being so close, but i think it just makes a nice change from always just sitting on their wheels. Also, with the DFD you can change their positions easily, and get a different view of your models. I would definitely like to see clear plastic used though
paul-muc
You could make a wooden base for each, about 5x5 cm or round, and use a steel rod (or brass or aluminium) as stand. Though it would be more elegant to use plexiglass for both. The hole in the fuselage of the aircraft should be in the balance point. With two stands of different length you can show the dogfighters in any position.
the F-111C dude
i'd like more modern aircraft, how about the f-14s first kill as a start
nmcabecadas
These stands are good for small aircrafts in formation, as a leader and a wingman, both flying the same airplane with markings for the same unit. Airfix could replace the black stands with transparent ones and add a new part to allow them to become orientable, as Matchbox did in the past. Also a textured ground with some scenic elements could be interesting.
Biggyinn
Have the dog fight doubles in 1/48 (one with the old spit other with the new) , the stands are decent but clear would be better!

Yug
I love them. I have got some spare stands and make my own. e.g An RAF Kittyhawk v a tropical Me
T2B
The black arms do appear heavy and dominate the illusion of the planes in flight. I currently have 1 double stand (with 2 Folland Gnats in 'Yellow Jacks' livery - 1 is upside down) and painted the arms in Humbrol 64 Light Grey and although still visible are far less intrusive when displaying your finished model. Good Luck t2b
matthew_teevan
Hello, This is my first time posting here, so I hope this is an approprioate area to post this. I saw the subject matter of this thread and it seemd it may be of interest. I am long time model maker, and started with Airfix in the 1970s. I recently created this 'what if' box-art for a Dogfight-Double of a Star Wars X-Wing and a Tie Fighter. I recall Dogfight Doubles fondly. I've tried to captured the flavour of those boxes - plenty of gunfire and explosive action! The box styling and lettering is identical to that of the kit boxes circa 1972/3. )It's tough finding colours to include in the lettering and Airfix logo - as everythng in the 'Star Wars' universe is s pretty much grey)./media/tinymce_upload/03930782f3bfa99b5b82927c048b6afe.jpg
peebeep
Great 'what if' box art Matthew, you could actually achieve this Star Wars DFD with the 1/72 Bandai kits and a suitable stand.
Kenneth ONeill
Somewhat O/T but I think the Bandai kits also include a Y-wing, Vader special and a "Squint" as well as the X-wing and "eyeball". Revelll used to do similar scale A and B wings too.
