Lima spares

Bit of a long shot, but...
I've been clearing out a few boxes of old railway stuff and rejuvenated a couple of old Lima motors. The problem was when I searched for the appropriate chassis they were broken.

Top one is Lima Western Renown and the bottom one Lima Deltic 9006.

Stripped the motors, replacing springs & brushes, cleaned the com etc and they fired up really well. hence the frustration of finding the broken chassis's at the bottom of a box.
Usual retail outlets don't have them (they are from the 1980's!) but maybe one of our members may have them tucked away (more safely than mine were.)

Seen one on Ebay but it's nearly as cheap to buy the full engine!

As I say, a long shot. And it can be posted to an English address.
Cheers, Rossi
PS. Super glue failed on the Western Renown (I did have the pieces) http://www.oogardenrailway.co.uk/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif

My only suggestion is look for them on eBay. You may have trouble getting the part you want but you may find a non runner that can provide he bits. If you still have the bodies in good condition you might also want to consider those where the body is looking shabby

Just a quick thought about the top chassis, as you seem to have all the bits have you tried sticking it back together. My LIMA 47 accepted liquid polystyrene cement. Although that was not a repair, I was sticking two halves of two separate chassis together so I could have two motor bogies and I was able to choose where I could cut and therefore strengthen the joint with plasticard.

eBay is your best bet for a replacement. I think Hornby have re-released both models in the Railroad range with upgraded motors, so if your bodyshells are in good condition it may be worth buying a cheap whole railroad model and swapping the bodies.

As for repairing them, as 81f says the Lima plastic will stick fairly well with Liquid Poly, although reinforcement with plasticard will definitely be needed (also in my experience the resulting joints are quite brittle, so care when handling is required).
