mr.postman
hello again everyone I don't post regularly but I do read the forum everyday, Now I wonder if anyone can help me find a part? The part I am after is a cylinder block for a 1970 triang hornby Scotsman! I have scoured e.bay regularly but no luck! The locomotive holds very sentimental value to me, being my first ever train, and I really don't want to put it as just a display model. The original part just crumbled away during a regular service. Any help would be appreciated thank you
james_nelmes
I presume you are referring to the R850/R855 version. I think I might have one which is missing the metal guide on one side in a spares box. I don't want to get your hopes up but will have a look tonight. I would hold onto any of the metal guides etc. as you may well find one with a guide missing.
mr.postman
James thanx for the reply, I do have the guides! It's the outer edge of the Pistons that have crumbled and won't hold the stays in! Many thanx! By the way it is the r850/855 model...

81F
I sometimes find you need to think laterally when looking for parts. You may be able to get a non running chassis with the bit you want sometimes for only a little more than a brand new part. Also some parts nmay be common to other locos but I'm not sure of the scots mans cylinders though. Try also searching Hornby A3 cylinders as well as scotsman and see what comes up (several have for me many with different part numbers so one might work. Also consider searching with the word Triang instead of Hornby

VESPA
Try ringing East Kent Models 07854 094640 As they are clearing all their spares. Although not listed in my current lists from them they may still have one or two. Admin edit: Changed telephone number. The number Vespa originally quoted has been out of use for a few years. The one showing now is current and worth noting the opening hours for EKM 10:00-16:00 Tuesday-Thursday & 10:00-13:00 Friday.
james_nelmes
As I suspected I do have one. It is missing the right hand insert and guide. It is also missing the lining transfer on the right side. the part is undamaged otherwise. You are more than welcome to have it if you still need it. Just need to contact me somehow.
