Ralphy5
Hi Everyone,I have decided to use a Walthers TT instead of the Horny TT for realism.I have fitted a Walthers 90’ turntable with their motorised kit 933-1050.I have 4 wires coming of the TT, Red and Black which powers the TT (Have check it works ok, as you all suggested with a 9v battery and it works fine. Then I have two more wires Black and Blue which go to the track. After reading all the advice I have been given by you all, I am now totally confused as to how to wire it up for DCC.Questions:1/ which decoder do you recommend, the Hornby Sapphire R8245 or the Hornby 8249.2/ which colour wires do I connect to your recommended decoder to make it DCC.I plan to use the Elite controller first and as I get more proficient with the layout ,y that you all helped me with ( on my previous post, I will eventually go with the E link Rail Master.Thank you all in advance for your advice. Chrissaf
Peter (Ralphy), I haven't reviewed these links yet, but the general titles look promising..https://www.google.co.uk/#q=conversion+the+walthers+90+turntable+for+dcc
Chrissaf
A1) Unless your Walthers TT has a particularly powerful current hungry motor (unlikely) then the (cheaper than Sapphire) R8249 should be man enough for the job.A2) Decoder Red & Black connect to the DCC Signal either BUS or Track. Decoder Orange & Grey connect to the TT electric motor.
RDS
@Ralphy5... I plan to use the Elite controller first and as I get more proficient with the layout ..., I will eventually go with the E link Rail Master. If you do decide to go for RailMaster, it works very well with the Elite Controller and gives you the advantage of being able to use, the Elite on it's own, or RailMaster, or both the Elite and RailMaster at the same time. The Elite also has a 4 Amp power supply compared to the 1 Amp supplied with elink and there are many people on the Forum (myself included) who use the Elite with RailMaster.
