tals
Good day,I would like to buy a scalextric set and wanted the digital platinum.I unfortunately found out from the local distributors in South Africa that it was discontinued and a Carbon digital will be launched. My question is , which set can I buy now which can be integrated with the carbon when it is launched ?I really like ARC air but I'm a newbie and the last track I had when I was a kid was analogue .I look forward to your advice. Andy P.
Hi tals,ARC air is analog. You can use any cars with it provided they have a black guide blade/pin. I have used it with all kinds of cars. It features pretty much everything a digital layout does except for changing lanes and running more than 2 cars at once. You can combine analog and digital track. You can also conbine your old analog track with new analog track with an adapter piece, however the slot is about 1-2 mm shallower so newer cars might "bottom out".If you want digital, your cars must have a digital plug added which costs more. The digital version of the ARC series is called ARC PRO and will be out someday.... Blagard
I personally am just waiting for ARC PRO ....Just wondering if you noticed the April 2016 notice withdrawing c8435 from the 2016 range. i.e it is still not ready for this years listing. c8435 is trhe ARC PRO powerbase. So far as I know C7042 is still the only six car digital powerbase available and the fact that the ARC PRO has been in the works like for almost forever makes me think that anyone waiting for a digital six car set up may as well get what is available now or wait fo......! Edit: Just noticed the C7042 is on Pre-Order, so they are having more made while the ARC PRO remains in development.
Andy P.
I am currently analog only ad ARC PRO has all the features I would ever want so I am content to wait. :-)
Sizo
I am currently analog only ad ARC PRO has all the features I would ever want so I am content to wait. :-)This is an interesting read as I'm also a Scalextric newbie...well after a 43 year sabbatical. I've just started collecting scalextric how I remember it during the 70's and have bought a couple of old sets off eBay. I'm believe the sets include old 80's-90's analogue track but can I get as much competative race fun from analogue as I would from the newer digital?many thanks
Andy P.
The only difference between ARC AIR and ARC PRO is that ARC PRO has 1 or 2 more functions (KERS for example) and you can change lanes on a digital lane change set of track. Otherwise the pitting, weather, yellow flags and pace car are the same.I feel ARC AIR is the ultimate in analog driving at the moment!

So getting re-aquatinted to the whole Scalextric system. Looks like I'll have to do some research into ARC AIR and PRO and see if it's going to be worth including within my old circuit? Andy P.
I really , really like the ARC AIR controllers (which are the same for the ARC PRO). Nice weight, nice feel, nice trigger.... and WIRELESS! :-)
