Convert DCC ready loco

I've recently bought a Thompson L1 as DCC ready, but, now realise I need to buy and fit a chip to convert to a DCC fitted loco. Any instruction or adcise would be greatly welcomed.

Carefully remove locos body. |Remove small 8 pin plug-in Blanking plug form socket and keep for possible future use. Plug the 8 pin plug from chosen decoder into the now free 8 pin socket. Ensure Pin 1 matches the mark on the locos main circuit board.

Fix decoder in position ensuring it cannot make contact to anything metal, tidy decoder wires ensuring they can not be trapped when the body is refitted.
Place loco on programming track and set it address to that require. Its supplied as 3 so you really

should select another number. Chose a number from 1 up to the number maximum of the DCC system (Select is form 1 to 59, while the Elite is from 1 to 9999). Test loco on power track and assuming all is ok refit body.
Job done :-)
