Friendly Beginner
Hello,I am looking to buy a DCC Select Controller and Chips, Ideally near Central London. All the nearby shops generally are toy stores or have a very limited selection, so I was wondering where I should go. Normally in towns, large villages or small cities, there is a local model shop, but in the urban centres, I am having difficulty finding these establishments. Yelrow
Hattons, mail order are probably cheapest, they have their own decoders. If you know what you want, you will not go far wrong, and post is cheap. john
RB51
You could try Ebay or similar - there are some bargains to be had on there, and some very expensive listings, so be careful. Hornby are there as a seller (hornby Hobbies Ltd) but at the moment there is no Railway stuff to be had (when I last looked). R-
Friendly Beginner
Thanks, but I wanted to see the product(s) before I buy. Therefore I perhaps would like to go to a shop.
RB51
If you have a shop near you then great - see the Hornby Distributor map. R-

mjb1961
Have you tried Hamleys in the centre of London ,,,,,,
walkingthedog
I love the way you say 'Normally in towns, large villages or small cities, there is a local model shop'. I'm afraid that definitely is not the case. Mail order really is your best bet. How about buying directly from Hornby on this site. If not Hamleys is a good bet as suggested. Friendly Beginner
Thanks, I checked all of the stores suggested last night, but they seem to all post 'London' Prices (i.e. Overpriced). Could you suggest a store easily accesible by public transport then?
RB51
I have to say Friendly Beginner that none of the ones worth having are cheap. Where in the country are you - just town/county will do, nothing specific. R-
Yelrow
The only competative deals, are the likes of Hattons, .Janes has many special offers, Hobby Store at Faversham also. If you know what you want, i see no problem with buying by post. If its advice on what to buy, Hamleys have some knowledge. john
