daroston Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 When using the Elite the euroster train runs and then cuts out. It is the only train operating so should not be an overload. Cannot get the train to move now?Tried unplugging the elite and checked the line for shorts or obstruction.Any suggestions how to reset and/or the reason for the cutout.David Roston
poliss Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I presume you are not having problems with any other locos.Possibilities: A wire has come loose inside the loco. This could have caused a short circuit blowing the decoder. Did you detect any burning smell? You could try resetting the decoder by entering 8 into CV8. Might also be worth trying resetting the Elite.
Flashbang Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 HiMain causes of DCC locos stopping for no apparent reason are....1) Dirty rails - Thoroughly clean with a track rubber etc.2) Dirty loco pick up wheel tyres. Clean with a fibre pencil or use IPA or Meths on a lint free cloth.3) Dirty rear of wheels and the wheel wiper contact. Or wheel wipes not maintaining continuous contact as the wheel set moves across the loco side to side. Clean and adjust as necessary.4) Loss of DCC power to a section of track. Check all metal rail joining fishplates are both clean inside and the rails too are clean where the fishplates and the fishplates are tight onto both rails they connect together.Best practice uses a DCC power Bus and dropper wires to as many rail sections as practicable.5) Loco decoder is over loaded or over heating and its Overload cut-out is operating. Often manifest itself by the loco stopping then after a period of time restarting and then stopping again and so on.6) Poor rail power feed connections. Ideally all rail feeds should be soldered.
