Jimbo1707820979
Running my loco on a friend's layout with the same address as one of my friend's locos, mine suddenly stopped. Not a peep out of it. A test with a 9v battery showed the patient was still alive luckily. Arriving home I reprogrammed the address with my Select and all was well again. Phew. Newish loco too.Is this a common occurrence when 2 "same-addressees meet" ? ( I know it is a stupid idea anyway but would be interested in the answer) Decoder in question a simple Hornby 8249. 2e0dtoeric
More likely it was a brief short-circuit spike that wiped your decoder memory. Having two loco's with the same i/d wouldn't do that, but it would make operating a bit tricky if they both were facing in opposite directions! 96RAF
No reason why to decoders cant have the same address e.g. DMUs, HSTs, EMUs, etc with a motor car and a dummy car. Some double heading give the decoders the same address.
Jimbo1707820979
Thanks, 2e0 and Rob. I am reassured. The spike seems the most likely. I've heard of "leaves on the rails" but we found a small snail with its shell . Yuck. 🫨
