Spireblade
A friend of mine is selling some of his old locos. I was after a bit of info as to which type of motors are the best to convert. Most are class 47s, 37s and 50s. In general which type should I steer clear of?
RDS
I have converted quite a lot of older Loco's. Some older models (and I know that Bachmann did this with some steam models) have what is known as a split chassis and these can be quite difficult to convert. If there are 2 wires coming from the motor and 2 wires going to the pickups on the wheels this indicates that the motor is isolated from the chassis and as HFM says, conversion is straight forward.
