it certainly is, quite a good start, lets hope they introduce more in the future,

 Amazing!  How can they do them for such a low price when you consider the aternatives at around £90+?

simple the price difference between a standard loco and a TTS version averages £20-£40, so it stands to reason that the decoder should be sold at a similar price,

There is also, a tad of diffence in the quality, although , for me, their  fine. john

Plenty of time to save up, not due till august. Nice long intro, to work out how many you need.. Very good news for the DCC guys. Will also, hit these guys on ebay, who have been stripping them out, and selling them on. john

Thks for posting the link, and especially the advice to fast forward. I wouldn't have survived 10 mins of someone coughing.

I'll hopefully be buying several, must start saving now [or perhaps after Xmas], and hope there'll be decoders to suit my locos.

i have some renewed enthusiasm to get the layout built after the new year, so much to look forward to, and hopefully they might release more TTS decoders later in the year, wouldn't mind some cl43's and cl25's and B1's,

37, lover, i did not watch it either. the details have been released on other forums. Thats how i knew about decoders and Hitachi. My wife tells me if i have the TV any louder, she is going to buy me headphones. She forgets at 73, your faculties start to wane. john

I am in the same boat mate. Nil in one ear from 5-6 years old, the other down to around 30DbA out of 120 DbA max. Digital aids have helped in recent years but still a struggle where ever there are other noises. 

 

TTS sound is fine with me, with the door shut I can hear my locos, enough for me,  and not that other voice... 'are you still in there?'

Very exciting news about the TTS decoders, but I wish they were making them for class 43s. My HSTs need some noise!

I would guess that the Tornado TTS decoder has a chime whistle. Can anyone tell me whether an A3 decoder would sound wrong in an A1 loco?

Or you could search on YouTube for the locos and listen to them. Plenty of videos of the TTS locos available.

So with TTS decoders you cannot read and programme cv2 or cv6? Cv2 not so important but not being able to change cv6 is annoying.

I have an A1 'Bon Accord' and a class 47 as part of the Majestic set, along with a TTS Duke of Gloucester. I've pre-ordered a TTS decoder for the class 47, but I'm wondering whether I should order a Tornado or an A3 TTS decoder for the Bon Accord?

It's really great news. Having looked at the service sheet for Tintagel Castle (R2848) I noticed that there is what appears to be a place within her tender to mount a speaker. Can anyone confirm if this is the case? If so, it'd make fitting the TTS sound decoder a lot easier. 😀

Looking at the SS that is a 5 minute job to install TTS as the decoder socket is in the tender and the weight is cranked to fit over the speaker enclosure, if not leave it out or saw it to,fit.
