So, the Victor is now out on general release. If you attended Scale Model World a few weeks ago, you will have seen the one I built for Airfix on display. It was built from a full production shot, so what I received in a  big brown box was what you will receive in a big red box, at least as far as the plastic goes!
Unfortunately the decals were not ready in time for me to be able to use them, so this is a mish mash of aftermarket and spares. It was intended to be representative of the option in the kit rather than perfect, and lacks many stencils and stuff like that.
Anyway, I took some studio shots before delivering to Airfix on the morning of the show and saying goodbye to it, and I can share those now with the kit on general release. Enjoy!

Yes its a big beast and I recieved my pre-order last week after nearly a years wait. Looks a lovely kit but was surprised by the dark grey mould plastic on this release? Will check the span of the two kits sometime soon cos I've got the Revell Victor K.2 on my ceiling refueling a Buccaneer.

The dark grey plastic is harder than the pale grey soapy stuff that kits produced in India came in. It holds detail better, does not distort as easily, produces far cleaner mouldings without the terrible mould seams of earlier models and results in a far higher quality product (being manufactured in the UK as well)

So the question is:whycan't the kits from Inidia be produced from the same kind of plastic as the Victor and P-40B?

I like the fact that Airfix are manufacturing it in England. That is very encouraging. That should mean better QA. Also jobs for the locals. I will definitely be getting this plane. It is my favorite post war plane and the best looking plane Britain designed. I already have it on notify when in stock at my Australian store.

Looks great. I have it on good authority that Santa will be leaving one for me (Well, I placed the order). Still haven't decided what scheme to use. I was originally planning flash white with faded markings to fit between the white/solid of my Valiant and camo/white Vulcan but am tempted by the early camo scheme on XL513.

Can't wait to get started.
