RB51
Hi Woody - welcome to the forum. I'll leave one of the DC chaps to answer your question, Just to say for now I have asked the forum administrator to adjust your, albeit amusing, incorrect title. Made my morning 😎 R-
96RAF
Welcome I was about to invite you, whilst awaiting further feedback, to have a read of Chrissaf's guide to extension packs which was a stickie at the top of this forum but it has gone walkabout for some reason. It will be restored in due course apparently. The 'phantom' guide explains how to extend and connect your track for various configurations of both DC and DCC power. Chrissaf
Woody, this guide was written for newbies like you in mind. As RAF above says, the guide is normally a 'sticky' post and will return as such later. In the meantime, it is still viewable and downloadable from the forum on this following link:.https://www.hornby.com/media/wysiwyg/Hornby/Forums/A_Guide_to_Getting_Started_with_Track_Extension_Packs.pdf.PS - I think traumatic might be a more apt title 😀 😉 😀
81F
It is possible to run two different locos from the same controller (I used to double head on my old layout) so running them on separate circles would be possible. However they would not be controlled separately. As the points would act as switches you would probably have to feed both two circuits from the same controller. It would probably be far more interesting operationally to insulate the two tracks and have separate controllers as HFM suggests. To do this the metal rail joiners at the cross-overs from one track to the other would need to be replaced by insulated ones. If you are nailing your track down and still only want to use one controller I would still recommend insulating the two tracks and feeding them separately as this would allow you to add another controller later by simply disconnecting one set of feeds rather than pulling up track
