Camerons dad
Hi allafter a 22 year break from models trains I've just bought my son his first train set, it's the country to coast set and whilst I'm impressed with it , I can't help but feel the controll box is a bit flimsy compared to what I used to use, can I use my old controller that I had many years ago? LCDR
The answer is a VERY qualified 'yes' BUT you would be wise to get it Portable Appliance Tested by an qualified electrician to make sure the insulation is still safe first, 22 years storage can adversly affect materials. Modern locos draw less current but the older controllers which put out 12V are still compatible. I still use the old Duette and Clipper controllers I bought in the 1980s with modern stock. 96RAF
For interest dad let us know the make and model of your old controller and what the label says about its output e.g. 12V 5Amps, etc.
